Joe Rudko (b. 1990, Everett, WA) is a visual artist who works in Seattle's SODO neighborhood. He grew up in Woodinville, WA, and earned his BFA in photography from Western Washington University. He works with found and vernacular photographs as physical objects, cutting, reassembling, and mounting them into new compositions. His practice began with collage, expanded into pastel drawing in 2020, and now includes large-scale oil paintings on panel that remain rooted in photography.
Rudko has exhibited widely across the United States, with solo shows at PDX Contemporary Art (Portland), Von Lintel Gallery (Los Angeles), Winston Wachter (Seattle), and Davidson Gallery (New York City). His work is held in the permanent collections of the Getty Museum, Portland Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Morgan Library. Reviews of his work have appeared in Artforum and Art in America.
